It appears fans of "The Walking Dead" don't have to worry about the series getting away from its core characters during Season 8.
Producer Greg Nicotero has revealed to ComicBook.com that the Season 8 premiere on Oct. 22 will open with a shot of our hero Rick Grimes. From there, the show will remain focused on him.
"We start season 8 with a close-up shot of Rick Grimes, and we soon feel that he is the one who dominates the plot, not Negan," Nicotero said.
One of the biggest criticisms of Season 7 was its overwhelming focus on Negan, "TWD's" new major villain. But Nicotero's words and the recent trailer for Season 8 suggest the show will remain true to its roots.
As for that "close-up shot" of Rick, Nicotero could be referring to the "Old Man Rick" footage seen at the end of the Season 8 trailer.
Fans are still wondering whether that was a dream sequence or if the series will, indeed, follow the comic book and jump ahead two years in its story at some point.
