With the release of season six of The Walking Dead only a month away, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon in the hit drama, recently participated in a Q&A session on social media where he talked about a possible spin-off for his popular character.
The idea of a spin-off centered on Daryl and his brother Merle was brought up after a fan asked Reedus, “When [The Walking Dead] inevitably (& sadly) ends, would you be open to a Daryl & Merle spinoff prequel?”
Reedus responded to the question by admitting, “That sounds super fun,” on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the upcoming season of The Walking Dead is expected to feature a number of exciting storylines. In fact, Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on the show, recently discussed how emotional the new season is going to be.
“It’s easy to use the buzzwords — to say ‘roller coaster’ or ‘intense,” the actor explained to Entertainment Weekly. “I think last year was a very good indicator of where we’re headed. We’re seeing everybody as who they are now. You’ve found them grizzled.
You’ve found them completely broken and shattered and they’ve all witnessed and experienced terrible things. And so you get to see them there. We wear it on our face. We wear it on our body. To see where we’ve evolved to is awesome.”
Yeun added that the new season will explore how the characters are fighting to get back what they lost since the outbreak of the zombie virus.
“So [season] 6 is that, is showing how much has been taken away from us,” he stated. “The end goal is to find some semblance of life that we lost before. I think you’re going to see some deeply emotional character story and you’re also going to see, as we always do, some crazy-ass s—.”
Season six of The Walking Dead is scheduled to premiere on October 11 on AMC.
