The Walking Dead fans having many surprises in store in the first episode of season 6, according to Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the series, told Entertainment Weekly the first episode caught him by surprise. Lincoln added The Walking Dead storylines just get deeper as the season progresses and it’s definitely the most ambitious scripts he’s read in a while.
“I think that episode one is something that people are not going to expect,” Lincoln said. “I certainly didn’t when I read it. And when we filmed it, it just grew and grew and it got deeper and deeper. And I think there are a couple of episodes this season that are certainly some of the best episodes I’ve read, maybe in a couple of seasons.”
The Walking Dead cast member Lennie James, who plays Morgan on the series, also recently told Access Hollywood fans aren’t getting the full story from the San Diego Comic Con teaser. James explained there is an interesting dynamic between Morgan and Rick, but it’s not necessarily what you see in the trailer.
"I can tell you that a lot of the trailer isn't necessarily literal," James told Access Hollywood. "So it's about the themes and the theme that Morgan brings to Alexandria and the theme of, you know, the ethos that Morgan has, which is that all of life is precious and he's no longer gonna kill people any more. But when he arrives, the man he thinks he's gonna join up with is putting a bullet in somebody's head. So the themes that those two men are carrying are going to run through this season."
The Walking Dead season 6 will premiere on Oct. 11.
