A dead character from The Walking Dead was reportedly spotted on the season 6 set and, of course, people are freaking out.
The Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page shared a post claiming Michael Rooker was spotted on set. Rooker played Merle Dixon, Daryl’s brother, on The Walking Dead and was killed by The Governor in season 3.
Some fans believe Rooker’s appearance means there is a Daryl (Norman Reedus) flashback scene coming up in The Walking Dead season 6. Showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed there will be a lot of flashback scenes in the upcoming season during The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con Panel.
"There will be a whole lot of flashbacks in the first half of this season," Gimple said during the Comic Con panel. "I'm working on an entire episode that is a flashback."
However, some people believe Rooker is there to film Daryl’s death scene. Daryl doesn’t exist in The Walking Dead comics, so his future in the franchise is unknown. It’s possible Daryl’s time on the series has come to an end and Merle is there to get him through it, kind of like how Beth came to Tyreese in the end.
Keep in mind The Walking Dead production hasn’t confirmed Rooker will return for season 6. The actor could be visiting some friends on set. Reedus recently teased to Entertainment Weekly what’s to come in The Walking Dead season 6.
“Season 6 is much different than the previous seasons,” Reedus told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s kind of our group being okay with stability and fighting stability and figuring out if we can actually live with other people.”
