The Walking Dead Season 6 just started filming on Monday, May 4, so they're still working on Episode 1. But Spoil the Dead just shared some casting intel that lists the writer and director information for both the premiere episode and Episode 2. No titles yet, but here are some early details on the first two episodes:
THE WALKING DEAD, Episode #601
Director: Greg Nicotero
Writers: Scott M. Gimple & Matthew Negrete
601 Outside Dates: 5/4-5/14
THE WALKING DEAD, Episode #602
Director: Jennifer Lynch
Writer: Seth Hoffman
602 Outside Dates: 5/15-5/27
Those outside dates are for filming, since the intel comes from casting notices for three characters who will arrive in the premiere and Episode 2.
It’s certainly not a surprise to see the tag-team of Gimple and Nicotero back in action for the premiere. Showrunner Scott and go-to guy Greg joined forces for the Season 5 premiere, Episode 9 and the Season 5 finale. Matthew Negrete has several TWD credits to his name, including "Spend," "Consumed" and "Slabtown" from Season 5. Jennifer Lynch directed "Spend," which was one of the best episodes of Season 5, in our opinion, so it's good to see her taking on another episode. Seth Hoffman is also a veteran TWD writer, co-writing the Season 5 finale with Scott Gimple and also writing "The Distance" and "Crossed."
All in all, things look good so far. Now we just have to wait … what day is it … five more months to see the episodes? We can do that.
