The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus: "Daryl is ready to take Alexandria"

The Walking Dead's fifth season wrapped up last month, with the finale episode bringing Daryl, Aaron and Morgan back to Alexandria just in time to see Rick execute Jessie's abusive husband, Pete.

Norman Reedus recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what's in store for his character in Season 6, revealing that Daryl is ready to side with Rick and take over the Safe Zone

Recently, The Walking Dead producer Scott M. Gimple teased what's in store for Season 6, declaring that things were about to get "big, loud and scary" for fans of the show. We last left Rick taking charge of the Safe Zone following a brawl with Jessie's abusive husband, Pete, the community's resident surgeon. Following a drunken altercation in which Deanna's husband Reg was fatally stabbed, Rick executed Pete at point-blank range just as Daryl, Aaron and - gasp - Morgan arrived in Alexandria.

According to producer Gale Anne Hurd, Morgan's return will "change the dynamic" of The Walking Dead Season 6, but one thing we can expect to stay the same is Daryl's loyalty to Rick.. Actor Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss where his character's headed when the show's sixth season debuts later this year.

Speaking about Daryl's conversation with Aaron during the season finale, which took place while the duo were trapped in a car surrounding by walkers, Reedus said: "I don’t think Daryl is going to say, “You know what? You go handle it.” He’s just the type of guy that is going to be like, “You know what? Let me do it.” He’s always the guy taking out the trash and doing the heavy lifting. And then he stands up and he’s like, “No, we’re going to do it together."”

Daryl's ride-or-die attitude could be about to land him on the wrong side of the Alexandrians when the show returns, with Reedus hinting that if the group should split, Daryl will side with Rick: "[In] that final moment too, Rick had said to us, if they can’t change their ways we’re just going to take this place. So I think that’s what’s going on in Daryl’s mind when he sees that happen. He’s like, “Alright, we’re taking the place.”

And it kind of ends like that." So, do you think Alexandria will begun to crumble when new episodes premiere? Reckon there could be a showdown within Rick's group? Let us know your thoughts.
