But fans of The Walking Dead are wondering if producers have lulled them into a false sense of security and will kill-off crossbow brandishing heartthrob Daryl Dixon on the 90-minute season finale on March 29.
The character, played by Norman Reedus, was developed especially for the AMC series and is not found in the comic books of the same name - leaving fans to wonder about his longevity,
Die-hard Daryl fans have been threatening "If Daryl dies, we riot," since Season 1, but their worst fears were given new life when AMC released a synopsis on Wednesday of the Season 5 closer:
"In the finale, Daryl finds himself in trouble while out on the run. Meanwhile, in Alexandria, Rick and his group continue to feel like outsiders as danger lurks near the gates."
Reedus poured gasoline on the fire during an interview on Entertainment Tonight. Asked about what to expect on the finale, Reedus said, "Wow, bring your Kleenex, and you'll be screaming at your television."
Worried fans have taken to Twitter with pleas to spare the character and threats to boycott one of television's highest rated shows.
