'The Walking Dead' Season 6: Beloved Character Confirmed For Fake Death

With that disclaimer out of the way, we've located some advance details about episode 15. For one reason or another, Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon is compelled to track down Dwight for stealing his motorcycle back in episode 6. After all, the crossbow-wielding hero promised that the thief would be sorry for taking his goods instead of coming back to Alexandria.

Glenn and Michonne are especially against the revenge plot, so they try to calm Daryl down. He eventually concedes, but that doesn't curb the mayhem that ensues later on.

Further into the episode, Glenn and Michonne are captured by the Saviors while Dixon and Rosita team up to rescue them. As the restrained duo starts to scream for attention, Dwight calls out from behind Daryl. This time, the elusive stranger has a gun pointed directly at the cast heartthrob's back. When Dixon turns around, the firearm is blasted and blood spatters everywhere. As the episode concludes, viewers are expected to believe that Daryl might be dead. The scene immediately cuts to black.

While the Norman Reedus fan club lets out a collective gasp of horror, we can actually confirm that Daryl's place on the show hasn't been lost quite yet. In fact, on-set sources claim that Reedus was very much involved in filming the very next episode. Had his character died, that probably wouldn't have been the case.

Knowing what we know, there are only a few ways this conundrum can be solved. Either Daryl is only wounded by the blast, or the splattered blood belongs to another survivor. So far we haven't noticed any extended cast absences in filming, so we assume that the victim, if any, occupies a minor role.

What makes this spoiler so particularly egregious is that this isn't the first time "The Walking Dead's" producers have tried to fool fans with a fake death scene in season 6. In episode 3, titled "Thank You," Glenn managed to escape a massive zombie herd by hiding under a dumpster. Deceptive camera angles made it look like the beloved character had become walker meat.

Such practices might be a reflection of the fact that "The Walking Dead's" producers have already admitted that a fan favorite cast member will be leaving the show by the season 6 finale. Those that follow the comic may have an idea of what's coming, so the TV script has remedied that by adding a litany of clever misdirects. Because this upcoming one involves Daryl, it's likely to make more than a few waves.
