The Walking Dead will return to our screens for its sixth season on October 11th, that’s a little over 16 days away and we’re all very excited. Over the summer months we’ve had Fear the Walking Dead to keep us entertained, and with just two episodes of that to go, The Walking Dead couldn’t come back at a better time.
As always with any TV show, when characters die, new characters come in and The Walking Dead is no different and thanks to the comic books, we have a rough idea of who might be coming. Yesterday, we spoke about the casting news for Paul Monroe better known as “Jesus” and we’re hopeful that when he appears, Negan won’t be far behind.
Fans who have read the comic books have wanted to see Negan on our screens for quite some time, but it’s never happened; not yet anyway.
The casting call for “Jesus” wasn’t the first hint that Negan isn’t far away, and a recent call also teased the arrival of the Hilltop Colony’s leader, Gregory…
Gregory is certainly less cruel than Negan, but if you haven’t read the comic books, you won’t know much about the character, so that’s all we’re going to say about Negan in relation to potential spoilers. We don’t want to ruin it for you!
Meanwhile, Spoil The Dead have discovered that the team at The Walking Dead are looking for an actor to play a character called Orin who is set to appear in the season finale – of course, this is probably a codename. But if this isn’t a codename, then it’s entirely plausible that they have changed the name of the character for TV purposes, but the description fits Negan’s persona perfectly.
The casting call reads: “30s to mid 40s. A physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men.”
It adds: “He’s a brilliant strategist… And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He’s truly one of the strongest personalities ever…”
Keeping Negan back until the season finale does make sense, and though the show’s bosses are going to potentially tease his arrival, having him making an impact during the finale will surely leave us wanting more.
