"The Walking Dead" has been so popular that for awhile there are people who did believe that there is a pending zombie apocalypse going to happen. Thankfully that has died off, no pun intended. The series lives on with a new season and even a spinoff show to boot.
Season six rumors have been going on for months that a character from the comic book version of "The Walking Dead" might enter the show. That character is the villain from the comic book, Negan.
With the survivors now in the Alexandria Safe Zone, there are new challenges to face even as the Walkers are still around them, and threats come not only from them but even from within the confines of the Safe Zone. Even there, no one is safe from the threats that is looming.
Producer Scott M. Gimple has been open on the possibility of the comic book villain to enter the show. "It's absolutely a possibility", he said to Entertainment Weekly. "And when I say it's a possibility, we have a plan in place, but there's a couple of variables that we're deciding about. It really depends on a few factors as we move into setting up the last bit of the season storywise."
Although the series is based on the comic book, it doesn't necessarily follow the comic's story in an exact way. There are characters that are not in the comics, as well as characters who might have died in it but not in the show.
A fan site, for instance, has speculated that some of the dead characters might come back for the show. Actors Tyler James Williams and Michael Rooker have been reportedly seen on or near the set, which might indicate their characters might make an appearance.
It might be that they are there to film some scenes involving flashback sequences, which would explain their presence. The past seasons have certainly employed flashbacks to a certain degree. What would be interesting is how they will fit into the coming season.
Gimple did say at San Diego Comic Con that flashback scenes will be crucial for the first half of the season, which might be one of the reasons why Williams and Rooker have been spotted in the set area.
Season six of "The Walking Dead" will start airing on AMC this Oct. 11.
